We will visit the desert bivouac and of course we also see them at work.

Even if you only book for yourself and / or you do not have your own 4x4, then this is the chance to experience the 2019 edition of the Morocco Desert Challenge rally and experience it up close.

So, you will witness perhaps the largest desert rally in the world; the MDC2019, from the coast of Agadir to the coast of Nador.

Under professional supervision of Erwin Driessen, who drove the Rally as a navigator, in cooperation with Exclusive Time Travel this trip will be organised where we will encounter and experience the rally stages on different days.

If you want to experience the MDC as a passenger, you’ll fly directly to Marrakesh and get into a waiting car there.

Itinerary;

8th April – Gathering at a camp site in the south of Spain. Campsite to be determined later.

9th April – Ferry to Morocco and getting to know this amazing country for a couple of hundred kilometers. Overnight stay at a campsite in Marrakesh.

10th April – ‘Driving to the south’ Early stay and an “on-road” trip towards the south where the MDC2019 will start in a couple of days. Overnight stay at a bivouac near or on a beach.

11th April – A visit to Agadir and the bivouac of the MDC2019 where the scrutineering technical checks will take place. Overnight stay at a hotel in or near Agadir.

12th April – Semi off-road route toward ‘Plage Blanche’ of which we will stay in close proximity overnight to see the start of Stage 1, the Prologue, the next day.

13th April – Start of the Morocco Desert Challenge on Plage Blanche with Stage 1, the Prologue. Discover how this “Violent” start of the competitors “fly” across this fantastic 25kilometer stretch of beach. Once all the competitors have left, we too will attempt to tame the beach ourselves and travel to the next bivouac along off-road tracks.

14th/15th April – Two days of off-road adventure split by a bivouac and witness the finish of the 3rd Stage of the MDC2019 in Assa where we will stay in the competitors’ bivouac including all the atmosphere and culinary experiences.

16th April – We will follow the caravan to Foum Zguid across the assistance route and experience how the entire support crew, team crews, catering and the rest of the road show travel from bivouac to bivouac.

17th April – More off-road from Foum Zguid to Mhamid across the Iriki lake and the Erg Chegaga campsite ….it is around this time the MDC Rally will cross our route and we can watch them during Stage 5…… Overnight stay in a hotel in Mhamid.

18th April – Today we will travel on-road via Zagora, by a dormant volcano near Erfoud (1999 The Mummy was filmed here!) to a fantastic off-road path which leads us to Merzouga where Stage 6 will finish. Our bivouac will be setup in the middle of the Erg Chebbi desert where will be accompanied by thousands of stars and will enjoy a delicious BBQ together.

19th April – “Playday” in the dunes of the desert or lounging around the pool? Today is a rest day in a hotel close to our last bivouac in Merzouga.

20th April – The 8th and final Stage of the MDC2019 and also the traditional finish of the Dakar while it was still in Africa… Merzouga – Boudnib. This is our favorite part of all our Morocco trips, enjoy the nature and open landscapes. This is an exceptionally beautiful route to complete in the evening when you’re tired but satisfied. We will stay in traditional Bedouin tents in Boudnib and enjoy the delicious Moroccan cuisine.

21st April – Embark on the last two days of off-road toward Nador interrupted by an overnight stay in a bivouac.

22nd April – The last off-road day to Nador where we will get the night ferry to Almeria (provided schedule does not change). Everyone will have a hut onboard to freshen up for arrival in Almeria the next day before starting your journey home or continuing your holiday adventure to the next destination.
